Are you still valued as a Consultant?

Stuart Henry is a Consultant Chartered Legal Executive associated with our London Bridge office. He was recently awarded with the Directors award. The awards allow us to recognise and celebrate the work, service delivered by our Consultants and how they put their clients at the forefront of all they do to promote smart modern law.

We spoke to Stuart about how winning the award made him feel valued by the firm even though he is self-employed.

What did you to do to get the award?

“Really I just focussed on doing the day-to-day to the best of my ability and the client feedback was what got me recognised. I love innovation and tech so I’ve looked for ways to adopt that as part of delivering a better, higher quality experience for my clients and that the feedback has paid off in enabling me to earn this award.”

How did it feel to get the award?

“Brilliant! It made me feel as though my efforts are recognised. When you’ve been making changes to your practice to pursue an idea or make improvements to the way things are done, it serves as a confirmation that your ideas are valid and work for clients.”

Do you feel like consultancy has improved your focus on customer service contributing towards the award?

“The freedom and flexibility of Consultancy has definitely helped. I can implement my own changes to the legal work without resistance to create a better experience for clients and improve my own working experience. I think the better client experience is absolutely a by-product of having greater autonomy and freedom in my work life to be creative with ideas and make changes.”

Does it make you feel the consulting firm values you even though you are not an employee?

“It does, I’ve always been keen to look at the future of legal practice, adopting new technologies and ways of delivering legal services. The board have been really supportive of that, giving me a forum to take those business ideas forward through the RCP Innovation group. I feel like I’m valued for more than just my ability and practical skills as a lawyer and collaborating with the law firm to grow both my business and the wider firm in alignment.”

Has the consultant award motivated you in anyway?

“I think it has acted more as validation than motivation. I’ve always been pretty motivated and the self-employed nature of Consultancy acts as its own motivation – the harder you work the more you get paid! The award really helped to recognise that, in terms of developing as a legal practice, I’m moving in the right direction, that I’m doing something right and that the consulting services as well as the Directors at Taylor Rose want to help and support me in achieving my goals.”
